About The Position

KMPH/KFRE seeks an experienced, hands-on News Director to lead its local newsrooms, with a distinctive focus on accountability reporting. The News Director manages news operations, budgets, goals, and staff responsible for producing more than 50 hours of local news weekly, while developing content delivery across multiple platforms. The role works with local and corporate management to set news content, philosophy, and direction; reviews daily newscasts for quality and brand compliance; recruits and hires personnel; negotiates contracts; and collaborates with other managers on marketing plans and ratings goals.

Requirements

Working knowledge of journalistic ethics, libel, and privacy laws.
Strong fiscal experience with operational and capital expenditures.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple hours of daily newscasts on two stations.
Proven track record of success building a winning news organization.
Journalism degree.
At least five years of experience in news management, with demonstrated leadership skills.

Responsibilities
