About The Position

KCRA 3, a Hearst Television station, is seeking an experienced and dynamic News Director to lead its nationally-recognized team of journalists. The ideal candidate will guide daily news execution, inspire the team, and oversee market-leading breaking news coverage and forecasting. This role requires a multifaceted leader who understands great local journalism and is adept at reaching audiences across linear, digital, and emerging platforms. A key aspect of this role involves investing in people, coaching journalists and newsroom leaders, fostering collaboration and accountability, and creating an environment for growth and innovation. The News Director will also oversee special projects and documentary work, driving newsroom innovation and the evolution of journalism. This is a significant opportunity to lead one of the country's top newsrooms, leveraging KCRA 3's legacy and Hearst Television's resources.

Requirements

At least 10 years of broadcast journalism experience with at least five years in newsroom leadership
Experience mentoring news staff
Can demonstrate clear examples of implementing strategic content initiatives with measurable results of growth
Experience managing several hours of daily newscasts
Exhibit unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards
Have a valid driver's license
Related military experience will be considered
In-person attendance is required
