About The Position
KPLC-TV in Lake Charles is seeking a dynamic anchor to join their news team. The successful candidate will be a proven leader, motivated, and passionate about storytelling. This role requires an effective communicator skilled in delivering various stories, including scripted and breaking news. Key responsibilities include cultivating sources, enterprise story generation, and producing at least one story weekly. The ideal candidate will have a passion for local news, creative storytelling, and a drive to mentor other journalists. Responsibilities extend beyond anchoring newscasts to include generating story ideas, shooting/writing/editing stories for broadcast, digital, and social platforms, and serving as an ambassador for 7News. Maintaining professional social media accounts and assisting the team in showcasing stories are also vital.
Requirements
- Strong delivery and reporting skills
- Ability to adlib
- Proficiency in digital platforms
- Meeting social media and CTV goals as outlined by management
- Experience in shooting/editing own stories
- College degree in journalism or a related field
- Driving is required
- MVR check is required
