About The Position

Gray Media is a growing multimedia company and the nation's largest owner of top-rated local television stations and digital assets. WCJB TV20, an ABC Affiliate in North Central Florida, is the market leader with strong news ratings and expanding digital platforms. The station is known for its comprehensive coverage of local news, weather, sports, and community events, including high school and University of Florida sports. Gainesville is also recognized as a medical hub with leading institutions. The selected candidate will be responsible for anchoring newscasts and working as a reporter/MMJ. This role requires a newsroom leader who can contribute to story generation and reporting, thrive in breaking news situations, and engage with viewers both on-air and online. The candidate must be proficient in shooting, editing, and writing independently while also collaborating within the newsroom. Flexibility, an energetic personality, and a team-player attitude are essential. The position involves producing content for wcjb.com, following the newsroom's strategic plan, assisting with newscast production as a "command anchor," and pitching story ideas aligned with the newsroom's mission. Excellent people skills are necessary for interacting with diverse staff members.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years reporting, 1 year of anchoring
College degree or equivalent job experience in a journalism-related field
Leadership skills
Exceptional news judgment
Professional knowledge of news operations is required
