NEWS ANCHOR/PRODUCER (PM) - WTAP
About The Position
WTAP is seeking a News Producer/Anchor to join their news team. This role involves producing and anchoring the 5:00 PM newscast on WTAP (NBC) and the 10:00 PM newscast on WOVA (Fox), Monday through Friday. The newscasts cover local, state, and national news, as well as local weather. In addition to producing and anchoring, the candidate will contribute to content for other newscasts and digital platforms. The ideal candidate is a strong team leader with a positive attitude, high ethical standards, and integrity. They should be a strong writer, knowledgeable about current events, and capable of critical thinking in a fast-paced newsroom.
Requirements
- Strong on-camera delivery with the ability to ad-lib.
- Excellent writing, packaging, and live skills.
- Ability to report in a broad range of styles with good on-air presentation skills.
- Strong social media presence.
- Superior writing and copy editing skills.
Nice To Haves
- Journalism or Mass Communication degree preferred.
Responsibilities
- Produce and anchor weekday newscasts.
- Generate unique, compelling, and innovative story/show ideas and content.
- Utilize social media effectively for news gathering and community engagement.
- Make community appearances on behalf of the station.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
