News Anchor/Producer (Pm) - Wtap
About The Position
WTAP is looking for a News Producer/Anchor to join their news team. This individual will be responsible for producing and anchoring the 5:00 PM newscast on WTAP (NBC) and the 10:00 PM newscast on WOVA (Fox), Monday through Friday. These newscasts cover local, state, and national news, as well as local weather. In addition to producing and anchoring, the candidate will contribute to content creation for other newscasts and digital platforms. The ideal candidate is a strong team leader with a positive attitude, high ethical standards, and integrity. They should be a strong writer, well-informed on current events, and capable of critical thinking in a fast-paced newsroom.
Requirements
- Journalism or Mass Communication degree preferred.
- Strong on-camera delivery with the ability to ad-lib.
- Excellent writing, packaging, and live skills.
- Ability to report in a broad range of styles with good on-air presentation skills.
- Strong social media presence.
- Superior writing and copy editing skills.
Responsibilities
- Produce and anchor weekday newscasts.
- Generate unique, compelling, and innovative story/show ideas and content.
- Utilize social media effectively for news gathering and community engagement.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
- Make community appearances on behalf of the station.
