About The Position

iHeartMedia is seeking a seasoned major-market news anchor and reporter for a part-time role. This position requires on-site work in the New York City newsroom and involves anchoring newscasts across multiple markets, delivering fast and accurate coverage during breaking news, and occasional field reporting. The ideal candidate is a journalist with proven major-market experience, sharp editorial instincts, and the confidence to own a story. This is not an entry-level position.

Requirements

  • Flexible schedule; able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • 5+ years of broadcast news experience.
  • Strong on-air presence with authoritative delivery.
  • Self-motivated reporter with strong story-finding instincts.
  • Skilled in social media writing and posting (Facebook, X, Instagram).
  • Excellent writing, editing, and grammar skills.
  • Strong time-management abilities; able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledgeable and current on local, regional, and national news.
  • Able to work independently and thrive in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Anchor newscasts across multiple markets with clarity, authority, and strong news judgment.
  • Deliver fast, accurate coverage during breaking news moments.
  • Write crisp, compelling copy for on-air delivery.
  • Produce, write, and edit content for the 24/7 Newswire.
  • Publish timely news and video updates across newsroom social platforms.
  • Gather audio from press conferences, live events, and key news sources.
  • Create short-form reports (voicers/wraps) for the next shift.
  • Anchor breaking news coverage when needed.
  • Support daily newsroom operations and contribute to the overall editorial workflow.
