About The Position

6 South Med/Surg/Oncology is a 36-bed inpatient unit that includes specialties such as oncology, palliative care, hospice, general medical and simple surgery overflow. RNs provide care to patients with Pneumonia, COPD Exacerbation, Pancreatitis, Acute Renal failure, post-op, and Oncology. Become Chemo certified after 2 years. Additionally, 6 South has 4 beds designated to meet inpatient hospice to provide continuity of care for our patients as they transition to end of life care. This is an excellent opportunity for new and experienced RNs to build a strong nursing foundation, earn Med/Surg and Chemotherapy certifications, and develop versatile clinical skills. Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

  • Become Chemo certified after 2 years.

Responsibilities

  • Build foundational skills and knowledge through Nurse Residency and Preceptor directed orientation.
  • Build skills in time management, triaging accountabilities, communication skills, pharmacology, lab interpretation, pathophysiology of disease process through a variety of med/surg patients with acute and chronic conditions.
  • Coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with a resourceful multi-disciplinary team.
  • Provide continuity of patient care through 12-hour shifts, patient centered care and team minded support.
  • Be a valued member of a highly skilled, resilient, and versatile nursing team committed to ensuring the delivery of quality and compassionate healthcare to diverse patient populations.
