Position Summary: The Manager, New Product will project manage New Product Launches to ensure tight alignment between Commercial, Financial, and Operational planning & execution, in the efforts to bring product launches to market in a timely and predictable manner. This position will have broad exposure across Globus, as well as deep interactions with the Product Development, Marketing, Finance, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Logistics, and Information Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Organizational Management Drive Launch organizational and cultural strategies that are in the best interest of the Company and upholds Globus’ Supply Chain practices.
  • Understand the next 3 years of the new product pipeline and work with Supply Chain counterparts to ensure we have the appropriate number and type of suppliers to meet that need as it arises.
  • Drive the culture of meeting or beating expected margins for sourced product at Launch. This includes appropriate source quoting, changing prints as needed to hit targets ( while not sacrificing design intent ), vendor negotiations, establishing how much designs ‘should cost’ prior to sending to quote, etc.
  • Build and reinforce processes that allow for product Launch in 4 or less months from initial PO and all quotes are provided in 2 weeks or less.
  • Participate in Quarterly Set Prioritization processes to ensure priority Set Demands are reflected in the Supply Chain priorities that are sent to all Suppliers
  • Work with Purchasing and Vendors to construct accurate supply plans and timing.
  • Develop Launch timelines with PD based on Supply commitments and communicate to appropriate teams the latest information.
  • Track and work with appropriate departments to close issues affecting launch timing
  • Monitor forecast versus sales on a monthly basis for 6 months after launch via the Order Planning meetings.
  • Work with the Purchasing team to ensure that all orders are placed and expedited after MIP approval.
  • Ensure additional approval is received, if costs exceed 10% by line, versus what was approved during the MIP.
  • Ensure Product Development completes “Product Rejection Form” when parts are scrapped.
  • Regularly follow-up with vendors for updates from vendors regarding commitment/delivery dates.
  • Ensure we do not unconsciously sacrifice current business needs to deliver new launch product.
  • Translate approved MIP’s into the Supply Chain forecast within an ERP (Create plan, enter sets and sales forecast).
  • Set up and facilitate Make vs. Buy meetings between Product Development, Supply Chain, Branch, and Executive Management.
  • Work with Product Development and the Quote Lead to get quotes for all parts prior to the MIP.
  • Facilitate DFM (Design for Manufacturing) with the selected vendors to confirm capability and any necessary design changes prior to the DCO’s are processed.
  • Work with Product Manager to ensure the pricing in the MIP is based off real quotes from the vendors that will be receiving the orders and within approved budget.
  • Ensure the design is frozen, inspection sheets, gauging, set lists, forecast, DCO’s are all completed including drawings/models matching prior to final MIP.
  • Assess competing priorities and participate in Pre-MIP and MIP approval process
  • Work with PD/Marketing to develop Market Introduction Plans (MIP’s), work with supply chain planning group to assess competing priorities and participate in Pre-MIP and MIP approval process
  • Maintain timelines for each project, document all changes, issues, reworks, scraps and other notable events that happen from the start of the project through launch.
  • These chronological timelines are to be sent monthly or more frequently as required.
  • Ensure all relevant parties included in all communication.
  • Track development tasks to ensure all steps are followed.
  • Oversee a team that accomplishes the following tasks that are detailed out below: Project Management, Demand Planning, Pre-Market Introduction Planning, Post-Market Introduction Planning, Supply Planning.
  • All Launch programs are stable and compliant to Globus’ Supply Chain practices prior to transitioning from Launch team to Purchasing or Planning departments.
