About The Position

The New Product Development Engineer II will be responsible for ensuring the overall quality of supplied manufactured products. They will launch new product at new or existing suppliers utilizing proven methods to ensure quality components are received on time, support new vendor selection as well as develop new and existing suppliers to create a world class vendor base, and drive cost out initiatives by way of design review and redesign of components and assemblies. Working in a team environment they will collaborate with cross functional teams including Design Engineers, Manufacturing, internal Quality, Project Management, Production Planning, Incoming Inspection, Purchasing as well as outside manufacturing and OSP suppliers.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Sciences, and 3-6 years of previous experience in a Manufacturing or Quality Engineering role.
High level of mechanical technical expertise is required.
Must be proficient with inspection equipment such as calipers micrometers, dial indicators, microhites, and hardness tester.
Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications.
Must have experience with CAD software.
Must be a strong analytical thinker.
Must be able to demonstrate expertise in a variety of manufacturing, quality, engineering concepts and troubleshooting skills.
Possess experience in evaluating and troubleshooting the primary manufacturing processes at suppliers.
Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to suppliers and internal customers, both verbally and in written form. Must know their audience to be able to communicate effectively.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Completes tasks as assigned in a timely manner. Requires little supervision to identify additional tasking. Able to organize and prioritize tasks with minimal assistance.
Able to make decisions with minimal guidance on corrective actions for supplier quality problems that arise. Communicate effectively to leadership verbally and in written format regarding problems and corrective action.
Able to perform analysis of supplier quality failures, particularly related to prevention of receipt & advancement of non-compliant material.

Responsibilities

Identify need for process sign-off (PSO) with a given part/supplier and execute with minimal guidance. Provide guidance to less experienced team members.
Accurately determine correct gaging methods to aid incoming inspection, and when verifying inspection data.
Collect data for Gage R&R and bias.
Design and source custom gages for specific applications.
Extensive knowledge of the supplier quality manual, PSO form and Vendor Evaluation Tool. Experienced in Oracle, Agile, PSO, SCAR Tool, APEX (FA database, Waiver Tool, etc.).
Highly proficient in print reading and able to interpret dimensional tolerances and apply them to components of enhanced complexity.
Identify external specification referenced in technical documentation and apply to the inspection process.
Understanding and working fluency of GD&T symbology assigned per ASME Y14.5. Able to review design drawings for completeness and correctness.
Enhanced understanding of the ISO process. Independently generate documentation required to maintain and support ISO compliance. Serve as a contributing member of ISO audit teams.
Understanding of fundamental ATF Compliance issues; ability to recognize when input from the Compliance team is needed to resolve/clarify compliance related issues.
Utilize Vendor Evaluation Tool to develop supplier improvement with minimal guidance from leadership to a successful outcome.
Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
