About The Position

AGRANA Fruit is seeking a Product Developer to join our Product Development team at our Corporate Headquarters in Brecksville, OH. The NPD Assistant supports Product Developers in the successful development and execution of projects by conducting laboratory and product development activities, including flavoring, coloring, physical and chemical analyses, sample preparation for shipment, and project follow-up updates. The role also contributes to proactive innovation initiatives and customer presentations while ensuring laboratory operations are completed efficiently and safely.

Nice To Haves

  • some college experience preferred
  • Laboratory experience in a quality control environment is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Supports Product Developers in the batching/unitizing of experimental formulas and creation of prototypes.
  • Contributes to innovation activities through preparing structured concept tastings and documenting ballot results.
  • Prepares, mixes, and evaluates laboratory samples, including integrating fruit preparations into final product applications.
  • Aides in preparation of samples for shipment customers in accordance with internal standards.
  • Following written formula and process directions, performs flavor and color development work of applicable products such as yogurt, ice cream, and baked goods.
  • Conducts physical, organoleptic and quality control analyses on NPD lab, Pilot plant and raw‑material samples. Tests may include, but are not limited to, Brix, pH, rheological measures, color, water activity, texture analysis, drained weight, bake tests, titratable acidity, and the like.
  • Records and maintains analytical results, flavor and color data, and project information within SAP and supporting documentation systems.
  • Maintains calibration and proper functioning of laboratory equipment.
  • Ensures laboratory organization, cleanliness, and availability of consumables, while supporting hygienic practices and waste‑reduction initiatives.
  • Supports activities related to ISO 9001, ISO 22000, and other applicable quality and food‑safety programs.
  • Adheres to established GMP’s and GLP’s.
  • Provides assistance with NPD operational tasks such as ingredient unitizing, sample production support, primary data entry, and inventory maintenance to meet departmental requirements.
  • Participates in daily laboratory stand‑ up meetings, R&D team meetings, and cross‑functional discussions to support alignment, communication, and project execution.
