About The Position

ASTEMO AMERICAS, INC. is seeking a New Model Project Specialist to lead multiple New Model development projects. This role involves utilizing SAPs, New Model reviews, Cost & Sales calculations, and ensuring a smooth transition from New Model to Mass Production. The ideal candidate will have an engineering background, strong communication and time management skills, and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams. Experience in the automotive industry, particularly with Japanese transplants and high volume assembly operations, is preferred. Requirements

  • Engineer or Equivalent education/work experience.
  • Follows instruction and welcomes constructive criticism.
  • Works well with all associates.
  • Follows scheduled tasks and communicates with the leader on progress through project completion.
  • Demonstrates good communication skills with all associates.
  • Automotive background, with preference towards high volume assembly operations.
  • Experience with Japanese transplants will be highly beneficial.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects on a simultaneous basis.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and time management skills will be essential in this position.
  • Ability to interface at multiple levels and operate within cross-functional teams is critical.
  • Ability to give clear presentations of technical data at the department level.
  • Ability to lead a small team of associates to complete a small team oriented project and create a presentation that summarizes the team’s activities.
  • Develop the skill to improve communication across cultural boundaries.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing methods is desirable.
  • Previous Japanese Tier 1 automotive and/or Automotive experience preferred.
  • 5P Problem Solving, Kepner Tregoe PSDM (Problem Solving Decision Making) suggested.
  • Project Management (Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification would be advantageous).
  • Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple New Model development projects utilizing SAPs, New Model reviews (internal and external), Cost & Sales calculations, and ensuring seamless transition from New Model to Mass Production.
  • Adhere to ASI's Safety Policy and practices and report any potential unsafe condition or concern to the Safety department immediately and/or to your direct supervisor.
  • Ensure proper safety practices are in place and enforced.
  • Interact with customers and suppliers throughout the New Model development regarding project plans, including developing strategies to overcome project delays.
  • Maintain project budget plans.
  • Support New Model action items as directed by Project Leader / Lead Project Leader.
  • Communicate all activities above to the relevant ASI departments and customers as required.
  • Be able to utilize all documentation from drawings to checksheets to properly communicate and provide accountability throughout the organization for product specifications.
  • Perform additional projects as assigned by Department management and support all shifts as required.
  • Follow all company policies and regulations per the associate handbook or other written standards that apply to job assignment.
