About The Position

MetroWest Medical Center is seeking applications for their November 16th and December 7th RN Residency Cohorts in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP). This program is designed for new graduate nurses, particularly those with prior LDRP or Women's experience (as a Medical Assistant, CNA, PCA) or a senior practicum/capstone in Labor & Delivery or Postpartum. The residency offers a fast-paced, supportive environment with expert mentorship, hands-on learning, and a collaborative team to develop confidence and critical thinking skills. The 12-month program focuses on creating a solid foundation, developing delegation and priority-setting skills, holistic patient care through interdisciplinary communication, and establishing professional relationships. Residents will experience different shifts, patient populations, and unit cultures. MetroWest Medical Center is the largest community health care system between Worcester and Boston, comprising Framingham Union Hospital, Leonard Morse Hospital, and the MetroWest Wellness Center, and is committed to providing high-quality, comprehensive care.

Requirements

  • Active RN license prior to the start date.
  • Graduated from state approved school of nursing or an accredited school.
  • Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy.
  • CPR certification.
  • Must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment health screening which includes a drug screen.
  • Proof of full vaccination or approval of a religious or medical exemption for mandatory vaccination prior to start date, with regular testing if an exemption is granted.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior LDRP and Women's experience as a Medical Assistant, CNA, PCA.
  • New graduate nurses who completed a senior practicum or capstone experience in a Labor & Delivery or Postpartum unit.

Responsibilities

  • Will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide safe and competent patient care.
  • Will specifically, assume responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing direct nursing care to assigned patients.
  • Will also assume responsibility for the supervision of staff to which nursing care is appropriately delegated.
