The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit specializes in the post-operative management of patients undergoing cardiac surgery and other complex cardiovascular procedures. Patients are admitted directly from the operating room, where they are closely monitored, stabilized, weaned from supportive therapies, and extubated as appropriate. The unit also receives critically ill cardiovascular patients transferred from other facilities, including those experiencing surgical complications or requiring advanced evaluation and care not available elsewhere.
Nurses on J65 deliver expert critical care and post-operative management for patients undergoing cardiac surgery and complex cardiovascular procedures in a 14-bed Cardiovascular ICU. This highly collaborative, fast-paced unit is committed to advancing cardiovascular care, optimizing patient outcomes, and maintaining excellence in critical care nursing.
A caregiver in this position works rotating days/nights from 7:00AM – 7:30PM or 7:00PM – 7:30AM. Weekend and holiday rotations are required.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross within one year of hire

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Responsibilities

• Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
• Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
• Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
• Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
• Document in patients’ medical records.
