  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related technical field; or equivalent semiconductor manufacturing experience
  • 0–3+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, metrology, or process/equipment engineering (shift operations experience preferred)
  • Hands-on experience in high-volume manufacturing environments preferred
  • Working knowledge of semiconductor metrology tools and measurement techniques (e.g., optical metrology, film measurement, defect inspection)
  • Experience with recipe creation, modification, and troubleshooting in a fab environment
  • Strong understanding of process control, SPC, and defect/yield analysis concepts
  • Familiarity with fab systems such as CIM, Toolview, ETI logging, and recipe management systems (e.g., GeRM)
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis using structured methods (5 Whys, KT, data-driven troubleshooting)
  • Basic understanding of equipment functionality, alignment issues, and qualification requirements
  • Ability to prioritize and manage WIP , including Q-time lots, holds, and production risks

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Metrology, RDA, or Inspection areas within a semiconductor fab
  • Familiarity with recipe tracking systems and documentation control
  • Experience supporting shift operations or 24x7 manufacturing environments
  • Participation in continuous improvement initiatives (yield, cost, cycle time reduction)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Product Quality: Resolve recipe issues with line monitoring, analyze tools, identify root cause, and intensify to process engineering teams. Engage process areas regarding measurement and inspection recipe related investigations and works with their engineering teams to identify plan of action. Involves themselves in fab-wide events that may have impacted production quality. Can organize and drive RDA/Metrology shift actions to respond to such events! Works with first shift engineers to understand recipe related concerns and is involved in execution of shift actions that are associated with such work. This includes creating recipes for new part types on all toolsets and creating custom recipes with GDM for difficult lots. Process DTS case closures and MWR’s. Provide real-time feedback to shift team members when there are any issues that are identified with these documentations. Manage WIP in the area by monitoring lots and KPI holds in the area. Ensure proper focus is placed on priority issues, but quickly handling Q time lots, deleting WIP and responding to watchdog notifications. Improve product cycle time and lead area WIP by ensuring recipe releases and availability on tool.
  • Operate and Maintain Equipment: Identifies Metrology Inspection and Measurement Tool issues such as alignment and recipe issues and is capable of trouble-shooting (re-run with manual alignment, run on different tool, etc.). Works with the shift equipment techs and area equipment engineering team to be able to determine root cause and obtain the proper inspection and measurement data. Log tools using the appropriate Equipment Tracking Interface (ETI) codes while providing descriptive notes/comments. Make sure qual system is kept current in Toolview by ensuring tool quals are done completely and on time. Perform trouble shooting on specific area toolsets. Employ decision making analysis platforms such as KT lite, 5 Whys etc. when vital to determine root cause for LTD events.
  • Drive Improvements and Enhancements: Identifies and drives improvements on existing Metrology operation efficiency and/or creation of new Best Known Methods (BKMs). Implementation of proposed solutions and works with all teams to ensure proper deployment. Support Fab wide training efforts by improving and delivering area specific training materials in a classroom setting. Evaluate certification data to identify their own training gaps and works with area training representatives and mentors to obtain the necessary training.
