The Neurovascular Technologist primarily supports the Neuro-Interventional Program, Patients, and Physicians. This role involves positioning and immobilizing patients for examinations, preparing patients in a sterile fashion, and operating sophisticated radiographic equipment to obtain high-quality images with minimal radiation dose. The technologist performs procedures alongside Interventional Radiologists, vascular surgeons, neuro radiologists, neuro surgeons, and other specialists, participating in various vascular procedures that require advanced knowledge of vascular anatomy. Key responsibilities include preparing examination rooms, obtaining and transmitting images, setting up monitoring systems, and assisting with complex interventional endovascular neurological procedures. The role also involves explaining procedures to patients and families, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, managing supplies and inventory, and ensuring accurate patient information for billing. Additionally, the technologist acts as a primary contact for Neuro-Physicians regarding program changes, maintains technical excellence of staff, manages stock efficiently, and communicates program changes to technologists. The role also includes gathering data for the neuro-interventional program and developing leadership skills through committee participation and continuing education. Supervision and training for technologists learning neuro-interventional procedures are also part of the responsibilities.
