About The Position

BayCare Medical Group (BMG) is seeking Physician Assistants (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN) to join a well-established neurosurgical team at St. Joseph’s Hospital, a 615-bed Level II Trauma Center in Tampa, Florida. This role is heavily inpatient and emergency-focused, supporting a high-acuity neurosurgical population in a fast-paced hospital setting. The current team includes four board-certified neurosurgeons supported by four APPs, providing comprehensive care across cranial, spinal, and peripheral nerve conditions for both adult and pediatric patients.

Requirements

Experience in an acute care, inpatient, or emergency setting required
Board certified (PA/APRN) with Florida licensure (or ability to obtain)
Eligible for hospital medical staff privileges
Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage complex patients independently overnight

Nice To Haves

Prior neurosurgery, critical care, or surgical experience preferred
Acute Care certification required for APRNs.
Surgical First Assist or RNFA certification preferred

Responsibilities

Provide inpatient neurosurgical care, including consults, admissions, and cross-coverage
Manage urgent and emergent neurosurgical patients in collaboration with the surgical team
Support post-operative care and patient stabilization overnight
Work closely with neurosurgeons, ICU teams, and hospital staff in a high-acuity, team-based environment
Participate in a collaborative model focused on efficient, high-quality patient care
