About The Position

We are recruiting a Neuropsychologist to provide temporary full-time or part-time parental leave coverage in the Neuropsychology Clinic at the Krembil Brain Institute (KBI), Toronto Western Hospital. The clinic provides specialized neuropsychological assessment services for adults and older adults with complex neurological conditions. The role will primarily support diagnostic neuropsychology services across KBI programs, with responsibilities adjusted based on service needs. This may include assessment of patients with movement disorders, epilepsy, neurodegenerative diseases, neurovascular disorders, and other complex neurological presentations, as well as selected post-operative or neurosurgical-related assessments. Assessments are conducted within a supervised assessment model that may include psychometrists and psychology learners, and support cognitive diagnosis, prognostic formulation, treatment planning, and patient- and family-centred care.

Requirements

  • Completion of a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, preferably from a CPA- or APA-accredited program.
  • Registration, or eligibility for registration, with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO), with Clinical Neuropsychology declared as an area of competency for adults and older adults.
  • Minimum one year of relevant experience following completion of doctoral training in neuropsychological assessment; experience with neurological populations and/or in a hospital-based neuropsychology service is preferred.
  • Demonstrated competence in integrating functional neuroanatomy and relevant linguistic, cultural, educational, and other background factors in case formulation.
  • Strong skills in report writing and communication of results and recommendations to patients, families, referring physicians, and interprofessional colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work while meeting clinical timelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supervising psychology learners and psychometrists is an asset.
  • Experience with electronic patient record systems is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct evidence-based neuropsychological assessments of adults and older adults with complex neurological conditions, including review of clinical documentation, clarification of referral questions, selection and interpretation of appropriate assessment tools, and integration of results obtained through supervised testing.
  • Provide cognitive diagnostic and prognostic opinions to support clinical decision-making, treatment planning, and patient- and family-centred care.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and communicate results and recommendations to referring physicians, treatment teams, patients, and families.
  • Supervise psychometrists and psychology trainees involved in assessment administration, scoring, and documentation, as appropriate.
  • Participate in team meetings, rounds, professional development, and administrative activities relevant to clinical service delivery, as appropriate.
