About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join their Neuromedicine ICU team. This role involves direct patient care for patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures and medical neurology patients. Responsibilities include admission work-ups, daily management, procedures, transfer/discharge, participation in QA/PI, educational conferences, rounds, student precepting, and supporting unit nurses and leadership. The ideal candidate will be motivated, flexible, independent, and possess excellent critical care clinical skills.

Requirements

Acute Care NP certified or NCCPA certified.
Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner (for NPs).
Active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing (for NPs).
Active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing (for NPs).
Current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner (for NPs).
Completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program (for PAs).
Active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing (for PAs).
Current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (for PAs).
NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn.

Nice To Haves

Neurosurgical or neurology experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Direct care for patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures as well as medical neurology patients.

Support of unit based nurses and leadership.
