About The Position

Legacy Medical Group Neurology is looking for a Neurohospitalist to join their team. A vascular neurologist or experienced Neurohospitalist is preferred, but candidates from other subspecialties with exceptional qualifications will be considered. The Neurology Department provides Inpatient Neurology coverage at six Legacy Hospitals in the Portland-Vancouver metro area. The neurology outpatient team has four clinic locations with sub-specialty programs in autoimmune neurology/MS, epilepsy, headache, movement disorders, and neuromuscular disease.

Requirements

Graduate of a four-year accredited U.S. Medical School or the equivalent.
Satisfactory completion of an accredited residency in Neurology.
Board Certified in Neurology.
Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the applicable state.
BLS certification (ACLS may substitute for BLS)

Nice To Haves

A vascular neurologist or experienced Neurohospitalist is preferred
candidates from other subspecialties will be considered for exceptional qualifications
Experience with or interest in telemedicine desirable

Responsibilities

Provides consultation services for patients with neurologic conditions who are hospitalized at a Legacy Hospital(s).
Consultation services include an active role on the Stroke team providing acute stroke therapies.
Provides telephone and telemedicine consultative services for patients with neurologic conditions throughout the region.
Provides continuous coverage for neurology services together with the other neurology specialists on the Legacy Hospital(s)’ Medical Staff.
Performs and/or interprets procedures within scope of practice.
Responds promptly in writing to referral source with clinical findings and suggested plan of care.
Participation in consultative and follow-up outpatient clinics, as requested.
Assists all team members in using hospital services in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Participates in education, training, and evaluation of house staff, medical students, and hospital personnel who have direct patient care responsibilities on the inpatient departments.
Collaborates with colleagues and other staff to develop policies and procedures for neurological care across Legacy Health.
Participates in quality assurance and continuous improvement in neurologic care processes as implemented by the organization to support high-quality and cost-effective care.
Provides input and recommendations to Legacy Health leadership on new technology, supplies, pharmaceuticals, and other new programs or services pertaining to neurological care.
Participates regularly in the teaching activities of the Inpatient Medicine Department and Stroke Program, including resident, student and staff education and outreach continuing medical education.
Participates in development of new programs and services, as requested.
Serves on department, hospital, and Legacy Health committees as requested.
Participates in marketing/outreach for neurology programs.
Participates in recruitment of neurology team members.
