About The Position

This position covers Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center and Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center. The Neurodiagnostic Tech II is responsible for working independently in a wide variety of hospital environments, including ICU and regular floors, with patient populations ranging from neonates to adults. The role involves obtaining patient history, explaining procedures, ensuring patient safety, and demonstrating knowledge of medications and their effects on EEG studies. Competency in the 10-20 international electrode placement system, artifact recognition and elimination, and selection of appropriate sensitivity settings and montages are crucial. The technician monitors patients during testing, collaborates with physicians, and reviews data for validity. Responsibilities also include initial setup and maintenance of long-term testing, monitoring skin integrity, communicating emergencies, and caring for patients during seizures. Accurate data collection and equipment maintenance are essential. Professionalism, timely communication, and collaboration are expected to ensure a satisfactory patient experience and promote self-growth and development.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work independently in a wide variety of hospital environments (ICU, regular floor) with patient types including neonate through adult patient populations.
  • Competency using the 10-20 international electrode placement system with head measurement.
  • Ability to precisely apply electrodes.
  • Ability to recognize and eliminate artifacts by troubleshooting and correcting when possible.
  • Ability to select appropriate sensitivity settings and montages.
  • Ability to obtain quality data, ensuring technical quality regardless of patient’s age or disability.
  • Ability to monitor patients during testing.
  • Ability to review data during the recording to ensure validity and interpretability.
  • Responsible for initial set up and timely maintenance of ongoing long-term testing.
  • Ability to monitor skin integrity and report skin breakdown to nursing.
  • Knowledgeable in communicating an emergency and able to care for patient during seizures.
  • Accurate and timely data collection.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in submitting all required information for data logs.
  • Ensures proper care and handling of all equipment and ensures that preventable damage does not occur.
  • Maintains headboxes and other peripheral equipment to protect integrity and ensure long-term viability.
  • Timely and respectful communication with nursing staff, physicians, and colleagues.
  • Promotes self-growth and development.
  • Collaborates as needed to ensure a satisfactory experience for the patient.
