The Neurodiagnostic Tech I performs and maintains competency in electroencephalograms, including portable inpatient EEGs. This involves applying electrodes, checking their performance, calibrating equipment, and selecting appropriate electrode combinations. The role may also include performing ambulatory EEG monitoring, EEG monitoring during intracarotid Sodium Amytal procedures (WADAS), Epilepsy Monitoring Units (EMUs), Evoked Potentials, and other testing modalities. The technician prepares patients for exams, gathers patient history, explains procedures, and performs exams according to laboratory standards, adjusting methods for optimal recordings. They are responsible for recognizing and managing artifacts, troubleshooting equipment, and performing clerical duties such as scheduling, archiving, and charge entry. The position also involves patient positioning and transporting, requiring lifting and pushing/pulling with proper technique. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care for patients of all ages.
