About The Position

The Neurodiagnostic Technologist 1 usually performs test setup and electrode application under supervision. The role is responsible for complete and accurate patient preparation, data acquisition, testing, and maintaining a safe testing environment. The technologist adapts instrumentation methods to obtain optimal results based on patient history, clinical observations, and test findings; maintains equipment and the work area; and troubleshoots equipment to support optimal operation. The position works the night shift, Monday through Thursday, in four 10-hour shifts from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., at the Temple Memorial Outpatient Clinic. On-call availability is required as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Less than one year of experience.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
Basic knowledge of pattern recognition, artifact troubleshooting and identification, seizure precautions, and first aid.
Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Clear verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work professionally and cooperatively with patients, families, and employees at all levels.
General computer skills, including Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling, electronic medical documentation, and email.
Ability to concentrate for long periods under stressful conditions while performing effectively.
Ability to remain calm and helpful under stress and take reasonable steps to resolve issues.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients completely and accurately, acquire data, conduct testing, and provide a safe testing environment.
Follow policies and procedures, infection-control and safety guidelines, and patient privacy and confidentiality requirements.
Maintain a safe work and care environment for oneself and patients.
Use proper body mechanics during work-area duties and patient care.
Adjust instrumentation methods to obtain optimal results based on history, clinical observations, and test findings.
Apply knowledge of neuroanatomy, physiology, basic electronics, electrical safety, computer skills, END instrumentation, pattern recognition, and medical and pharmacological conditions that affect EEG recording.
Take appropriate action in emergent situations.
Maintain equipment and the work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards.
Troubleshoot equipment to ensure optimal operational capabilities and report issues to management or the appropriate department.
Be available for on-call work as assigned.
