About The Position

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, University of Chicago Medicine, as a Neurodiagnostic Supervisor in the Pediatric Epilepsy Center. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area. The Neurodiagnostic Supervisor works with the leadership team to create a work environment that engages staff in the attainment of department and organizational goals and visions. Also creates a work environment that attracts, retains and engages the highest quality staff. Oversees day-to-day staff and patient workflow operations, technologist scheduling, payroll process, and compliance with time and attendance policies. Participates in recruitment and the on/off boarding process. Serves as a technical and operational resource and role model to staff. Proactively addresses issues affecting work environment and ensures high overall standards by addressing performance issues. Participates in the performance appraisal process and provides coaching and follow-up as needed. Supervises and participates in on-going tech education. Conducts monthly staff meetings. Assist in maintaining equipment in proper working order, troubleshoots equipment problems, and arranges for replacement or repair with the appropriate vendor or biomedical engineering. Assures Joint Commission and IDPH compliance.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Six (6) years of experience as a Registered EEG Technologist required, including Chief Tech or supervisory experience.
  • Must have minimum of 3 years of technical experience/expertise in the following areas: Cortical electrical stimulation, assist M.D, Electrocorticography, Intracranial set-up and recording
  • ABRET EEG Board Certified
  • Successful completion of the ASET online course LTM 100 Titled Introduction to LTM for EMU Personnel
  • CPR certified in basic cardiac life support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA)

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and trains Neurodiagnostic technologists
  • Supervises, plans, and reviews the work of technical staff
  • Works with MDs to put together tech education sessions
  • Leads monthly tech meetings
  • Performs EEGs when necessary
  • Oversees general productivity and assures quality studies
  • Oversees laboratory schedules and prioritization according to the workload and clinical urgency
  • Oversees the payroll process and tracks attendance issues
  • Participates in the hiring and termination of technical and clerical personnel
  • Participates in preparation of the expense, and capital budgets
  • Evaluates performance and prepares written evaluations
  • Monitors timely charge entry and updates/creates charge codes as needed
  • Keeps Policy and Procedure manual up-to-date
  • Orders specialty supplies and ensures appropriate stock levels for general supplies
  • Assures compliance with all external regulatory bodies, including Joint Commission and IDPH
  • Direct reports include all Neurophysiology Technologist staff.
  • Works directly with Manager/Assistant Director to remain within budgetary means and meet revenue expectation.
