About The Position

Neurodiagnostic Assistants assist EEG Technologists in gathering excellent data for physician interpretation. A Neurodiagnostic Assistant is an entry-level position. This role involves performing diagnostic evaluations, neurodiagnostic testing procedures, and EEG acquisition. The position requires maintaining equipment, documenting patient information, and ensuring patient safety. Training for the first 6 months will be on day shift, with the regular schedule being night shift (6:00pm - 6:30am).

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of departmental training program and Core Curriculum established by ASET within 18 months of hire.
No directly related experience.
Must obtain BLS Certification within 1 month of hire and maintain BLS Certification.
Successfully obtain the ABRET (American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists) credentialing for Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) within two years of hire into this position and it must be maintained moving forward.

Responsibilities

Independently and accurately hook a patient up to EEG equipment and start the study, ensuring network access.
Perform neurodiagnostic testing procedures.
Maintain currency in field through continued education such as participation in credentialed courses and attending seminars.
Understand and practice appropriate emergency-response actions and always ensure patient safety.
Maintain knowledge of and adhere to basic infection control standards relating to patient and equipment.
Operate independently, utilize resources, and efficiently produce quality work.
Train new staff.
Keep equipment clean and in proper working order.
Troubleshoot equipment problems, make repairs or report issues to leadership promptly.
Maintain necessary supplies and equipment.
Ensure that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective and efficient environment for employees, patients, and families.
Measure, mark, and accurately apply, and remove electrodes in a responsible, efficient and caring manner, according to the international 10-20 system.
Ensure that electrode impedances meet laboratory standards.
Write a comprehensive patient history.
Explain test procedure to patient and family members.
Independently perform routine, ICU and LTME studies on all patient populations including neonates, critical care patients, and patients with behavior difficulties, according to the laboratory's standards.
Accurately enter patient information into database.
Navigate Epic and Natus and utilize appropriate data.
Document in EEG record of events.
