About The Position

In accordance with professional standards of care and adhering to corporate philosophy of OSFMG, the advanced practice nurse/physician assistant shall be responsible for providing high quality patient care to the patients of OSF. This role involves exposure to a broad range of acute and complex neurological cases, primarily in inpatient neurocritical care. Responsibilities include comprehensive neurological assessments, daily rounding, histories and physicals, new consults, admissions, and discharges. The provider will perform procedures in collaboration with neurocritical care intensivists, prepare patients for surgery, manage postoperative care, and support smooth care transitions across the continuum. They will develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with attending neurocritical care intensivists and work in a collaborative environment with neurocritical care intensivists, residents, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary teams. The role also involves maintaining consistency and quality of services, full and current patient medical records, and assisting the Ministry CEO in cost management while maintaining high quality care.

Requirements

  • Licensed to provide either advanced practice nursing services in the State of Illinois as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act OR physician assistant services as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987
  • Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and State of Illinois for prescribing of narcotics
  • BLS/ACLS Certified
  • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hospital environment while maintaining patient-centered focus

Nice To Haves

  • NIHSS and ENLS Certifications preferred
  • Neurocritical care experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Providing high quality patient care to the patients of OSF

  • Maintaining full and current patient medical records, including reports of all examinations, procedures, and other services performed by Provider or other support staff
  • Exercising diligence in assisting the Ministry CEO in keeping costs of the Practice to a minimum while maintaining a high level of quality care for patients
