Training provided for this full-time opportunity. Day/Night rotation; on call rotation. This role will perform Neurodiagnostic procedures according to facility policy and procedures. During procedures for which competence has not been achieved, the technologist will train under direct technical supervision. The technologist is knowledgeable in correct Neurodiagnostic performance and recognition of clinically significant findings and follows facility policy and procedures regarding critical test results. They maintain the patients’ safety through communication to other patient care support staff during testing if needed. The technologist continues to learn and apply basic and intermediate EEG waveform recognition, relevant medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, infection control, current HIPPA practices, contraindications for activation procedures, instrumentation and preparation for use. They perform patient assessment as related to care such as electrode fixation product allergies, movement restrictions and cognitive function. The technologist knows and recognizes drug and physiologic status effects on activity monitored. They communicate appropriately and effectively with the patient and healthcare staff to convey the purpose of the diagnostic testing and answers questions regarding the procedure. The technologist understands why and how to maintain correct electrode connections. They identify and perform basic and intermediate technical troubleshooting and artifact identification and elimination. The technologist understands and follows concepts of digital equipment and electrical safety within the Neurophysiology unit. They have knowledge of alternate montages, protocols and alternate equipment settings and their effects should be applied. The technologist contacts supervisory staff as appropriate for problems within the Neurophysiology unit, stocks supply, and prepares patient rooms for Neurodiagnostic procedures. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
