The Neuro ICU CNA assists the Registered Nurse (RN) with the daily care of patients in the Critical Care: ICU Neurology unit. This role involves direct patient care, monitoring vital signs, documenting patient information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), performing purposeful rounding, and assisting with admission, transfer, and discharge processes. The CNA also collects specimens, performs point-of-care testing, manages patient belongings, and ensures patient call lights are within reach and answered promptly. Additional duties include running errands, maintaining stock for the nursing area, cleaning equipment, and assisting with patient positioning, transporting, and nutritional needs. The role also focuses on maintaining skin integrity, providing post-mortem care, and adhering to infection prevention policies. The CNA must demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care needs and principles of growth and development.
