The Network Virtualization Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. This role involves serving as a Network Virtualization Engineer and Developer, supporting network build-out and deployments to the C2BMC Test Facility. The candidate will work on complex assignments, perform a wide range of VMware system administration activities with little to no direct supervision, and provide root-cause analysis for recurring or critical problems. The engineer will work closely with a team of system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity administrators to maintain a high-quality test environment for the Government customer. Responsibilities also include performing vulnerability remediation and mitigations to reduce cybersecurity risks, conducting daily system monitoring, system backup and restoral, and application upgrades. The role requires documenting necessary system changes, advising the Government customer on system status and optimization, assisting with the deployment of new virtual machines, and performing administration of virtualization environments including troubleshooting, patching, and system audit log reviews. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for briefing customers and management, along with a deep understanding of VMware troubleshooting and configuration.
