About The Position

Linn County Information Technology (IT) is seeking a skilled Network Systems Administrator to support and maintain the core infrastructure that powers County operations. This role centers on network and server administration, helping Linn County's security posture and system reliability. Candidates with hands-on experience in networking and cybersecurity strongly encouraged to apply! About the position: Responsible for both network and windows server administration. The network function has the primary responsibility to maintain and support countywide networking and security related equipment. The security function is to maintain and support countywide security policies and maintain the integrity of the overall network. The Windows server function has the responsibility to maintain and support all Windows servers.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience supporting Windows Server OS and enterprise network equipment.
  • Experience in enterprise level LAN/WAN environment; NTFS, Group Permissions, Network Security, TCP/IP, DHCP, WINS, DNS, e-mail, web servers, file servers, and print servers.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • IT related certifications preferred (Network+, Server+, Security +, Microsoft Azure, 365 etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Maintains countywide server and networking infrastructure.
  • Analyzes server and network performance and determines appropriate course of action.
  • Maintains security through active directory and firewall/security appliances.
  • Provides technical support for the server and network environment.
  • Maintains proper backup and recovery procedures for County wide data.
  • Supports all Windows servers and networking equipment.
  • Maintains DNS, DHCP, domain controllers, Active Directory, Entra ID, Exchange Online, IIS, file servers, Office 365, and print servers.
  • Monitors system logs and activity on all servers/networking equipment.
  • Analyzes and repairs defective server and networking hardware.
  • Maintains security levels on all servers and LAN/WAN equipment to appropriate access levels.
  • Researches, tests, and deploys Windows server security patches and software updates.
  • Maintains hardware inventory documentation.
  • Assists in maintaining service level agreements.
