Network Security Engineer
About The Position
The Network Security Engineer manages firewall and network infrastructure security, topology design, and engineering operations across a large-scale enterprise environment. The role leads a security engineering team responsible for security appliances, network operations, incident management, compliance, and infrastructure projects. It oversees technical operations, advanced troubleshooting, security architecture, cloud connectivity, change management, ServiceNow ITSM integration, vendor coordination, and regulatory compliance, including PCI, HIPAA, and CJIS. The engineer serves as the highest escalation point for complex engineering challenges, mentors engineering staff, and drives continuous improvement of enterprise security infrastructure. This is a contract-to-hire position based fully onsite in Chicago, Illinois. The stated pay range is $70.00–$75.00 per hour. The posting anticipates closing on November 5, 2026.

- Expert-level experience.
- Skills in Palo Alto/Palo Alto Networks and Fortinet.
- Network security engineering and security operations experience.

Responsibilities

- Coordinate with vendors and oversee regulatory compliance, including PCI, HIPAA, and CJIS.
- Serve as the highest escalation point for complex engineering challenges.
- Mentor engineering staff and drive continuous improvement of enterprise security infrastructure.
