About The Position

The Network Security Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration, monitoring, and protection of the organization's network infrastructure and security systems. This role ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of company data and systems by maintaining firewalls, monitoring for threats, managing access controls, and supporting compliance with security policies and industry standards. This is a foundational-level role within the IT Security career track.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in network administration, systems administration, or IT security.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, firewalls, VPNs, and network segmentation concepts.
  • Familiarity with Windows Server and/or Linux environments, and Active Directory administration.
  • Understanding of core security concepts: threat detection, access control, patch management, and incident response basics.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certification such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, or CCNA.
  • Experience with Adlumin SIEM tool, Crowdstrike EDR, or vulnerability scanners.
  • Exposure to compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS Controls, CMMC Level 2).
  • Experience with Zscaler ZIA, ZPA, DLP, Cloud Firewall

Responsibilities

  • Monitor network traffic and security systems (firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, SIEM alerts) to identify and respond to potential threats.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot firewalls, VPNs, switches, routers, and related network security appliances.
  • Administer user access controls, permissions, and authentication systems in accordance with least-privilege principles.
  • Apply security patches, firmware updates, and system hardening measures to network devices and servers.
  • Assist in the investigation and remediation of security incidents, including documentation of findings and corrective actions.
  • Support vulnerability scanning and assist with remediation planning and tracking.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network topology, security configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with employee security awareness efforts and respond to help desk escalations involving network or security issues.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and evidence of security controls.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours network or security incidents, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
