About The Position

The Network Operations Specialist serves as Key Personnel within the Systems & Network Infrastructure capability area for the GITSS-A Task Order. This position is responsible for technical oversight, operational monitoring, infrastructure maintenance, and rapid incident restoration across global command sites. The specialist ensures high availability, compliance, and performance of critical classified (SIPRNet) and unclassified (NIPRNet) transport networks supporting military logistics and C4ISR operations.

Requirements

  • Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance
  • DoDM 8140.03 Cyberspace Workforce Qualification
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of hands-on experience in Network Operations Center (NOC) environments or enterprise network administration.
  • CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA Security+, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Security, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
  • Must possess an active Secret or Top Secret security clearance prior to start of performance.
  • Must be fully vetted through DISS and MP ICAM prior to receiving Common Access Card (CAC) credentials or elevated network access.
  • Responsible for maintaining active foundational certifications and computing environment credentials throughout the performance period.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct operational network monitoring and health assessments using SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor, Security Event Manager, and enterprise SIEM tools.
  • Identify network interface drops, latency bottlenecks, circuit outages, and transport degradations, executing immediate triage and incident restoration.
  • Install, configure, patch, and maintain Cisco IOS-XE and NEXUS routers, switches, and transport devices across supported command locations.
  • Execute routine network maintenance scripts, baseline configuration backups, and Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance checks.
  • Implement firewall and proxy rule changes as authorized by the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).
  • Support cybersecurity operations by administering GFE network security tools, including Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls, and Symantec ProxySG.
  • Perform root-cause diagnostics during service disruptions at operational seams between local infrastructure and enterprise service providers (e.g., DISA, RNECs).
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and as-built topology diagrams to preserve institutional knowledge.
