1268 - Network Integration and Test Specialist

Monte Sano Research Corporation•Alley, MO

About The Position

Monte Sano Research Corporation (MSRC), a Huntsville-based small business providing defense system engineering and related services to the U.S. Government, is seeking an experienced and certified Network Integration & Test Engineer. The role supports Army test recording, data distribution, and system-of-systems integration enclaves. It designs, configures, secures, and maintains tactical and enterprise architectures for capturing, distributing, and analyzing data during live and simulated military test events. The position works to ensure interoperability between the Unit Under Test and active NIPR, SIPR, and tactical military enclaves while maintaining data integrity for telemetry and system recording suites. The role includes developing and testing tactical wireless network architectures and simulation environments, supporting network testing and evaluation, researching software-defined tactical networking and cybersecurity, and advising developers of network-dependent military equipment. It also involves configuring network policies for bandwidth-limited battlefield simulations, supporting cyber compliance and vulnerability assessments, troubleshooting networks at live test events, and setting up equipment and communications in support of military testing.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in tactical network engineering, systems integration, or Department of War test and evaluation environments.
  • Active IAT Level II certification, such as CompTIA Security+ CE, CySA+, or EC-Council CND.
  • Experience with network packet-capture and analysis tools such as Wireshark to diagnose telemetry or protocol anomalies.
  • Understanding of tactical communication protocols such as Link 16, VMF, and standard IP networking, and tactical satellite terminals such as SMART-T and Phoenix.
  • Ability to troubleshoot unexpected challenges in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds of server or networking equipment and work in rugged field or range environments.
  • Willingness to travel to demonstration events for on-site support.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must currently possess and be able to maintain an active security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in accredited Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related engineering discipline; may be substituted with five additional years of experience.
  • Exata experience.
  • Joint Network Emulator and/or OneSAF experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop wireless tactical network architectures supporting data and voice communications.
  • Develop simulation environments combining terrain-based tactical radio performance, network emulation, and large-scale military battle simulation, including OneSAF and the Joint Network Emulator.
  • Support wireless network testing and evaluation, including generating test hardware architectures, implementing test tools, generating and collecting data, post-processing data, and communicating results.
  • Conduct research on software-defined tactical networking, disruption-tolerant protocols, cybersecurity, and proactive adaptation for MANET.
  • Advise application and hardware developers designing network-dependent military equipment, including support for Quality of Service prioritization, delay/drop-tolerant strategies, and future network flexibility.
  • Implement Quality of Service, secure tunneling, and traffic-shaping policies to adapt commercial and military network equipment to bandwidth-limited battlefield simulations.
  • Communicate system network capabilities and restrictions to industry and armed-services stakeholders.
  • Ensure data recording and integration tools are cyber compliant.
  • Work with cybersecurity personnel to conduct Network Vulnerability Assessments on MSRC-managed networks and assess compliance with the Army Risk Management Framework.
  • Troubleshoot tactical networks during live test events.
  • Set up military test equipment, establish network communications, and support testing with military units.
