This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA. The role involves working with on-site construction and cabling teams to connect devices, and with a remote engineering team to configure devices on-site. Responsibilities include documenting configurations as-builts, completing checklists, executing test plans to verify configurations, and assisting in troubleshooting systems. The technician will also participate in periodic review meetings for status updates and plan fiber and Copper drops between IDF and MDF. Experience with TCP/IP based networks, protocols, and troubleshooting is essential, as is experience with DHCP and DNS configuration and general system administration. A basic understanding of wireless networking concepts, comfort with Linux shell environments, and experience with CLI command line interfaces on Cisco, HP, or equivalent are required. Understanding of basic scripting (Perl, bash, others) and the ability to demonstrate effective problem-solving methodologies are also key. Experience with tools such as packet sniffers, network probes, command line debugging, site survey tools, and spectrum analyzer software is beneficial. The role requires the ability to work on a virtual team, communicate and take direction remotely, and possess good documentation capabilities. The technician will also help develop detailed test plans and must have good organizational and technical skills to plan, track tasks, deliver to agreed timescales, prioritize, and manage workload effectively. Communication with customers and peers must be professional and friendly. Willingness to provide on-call support coverage is necessary. Travel is required, up to 75-80% of the time, to customer installation locations. Safety must be the top priority for all employees.
