About The Position

GDIT is seeking a Network Firewall Administrator to support the Enterprise Mission Information Technology Services (EMITS) program in Wiesbaden, Germany. This role is responsible for implementing network firewalls across coalition and mission partner networks, configuring and troubleshooting firewalls, and resolving connectivity issues. The administrator will monitor, manage, and troubleshoot perimeter security devices including firewalls, IDS/IPS, routers, and switches. They will also implement firewall change requests, support existing firewall devices like Cisco ASA 5500 and Firepower 2100/4100, and Cisco IOS/IOS-XE/CatOS based routers and switches. The position involves using network management tools and packet captures to resolve operational issues, supporting Security Computer Incident Response Teams by implementing IP Address denials, and interfacing with end-users, systems administrators, and engineers for firewall modifications. Additionally, the role includes monitoring security system logs and status, performing daily tuning of firewall and IPS tools, monitoring and troubleshooting health checks on perimeter security devices, performing recurring device maintenance, and updating architecture diagrams. The administrator will also draft and publish outage notifications, maintain standard operating procedures and guides, and create system documentation and architecture diagrams to support the RMF accreditation process.

Requirements

  • Secret Level Security Clearance with an SSBI/T5 investigation
  • BA/BS degree
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Must possess DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification on Day 1
  • Must obtain ITIL Foundation certification within 90 days of hire
  • CCNA Security required
  • First-hand experience with supporting the monitoring and configuration of Firewall/DMZ infrastructure including Network and Application Firewall Packet Filtering technologies.
  • Basic knowledge in configuring Cisco switches.
  • Must be able to meet German TESA requirements (A bachelors degree plus 3 years of recent specialized experience, OR; An associates degree plus 7 years of recent specialized experience, OR; A major certification plus 7 years of recent specialized experience, OR; 11 years of recent specialized experience).

Responsibilities

  • Implement network firewalls across coalition and mission partner networks.
  • Configure and troubleshoot firewalls and resolve connectivity issues.
  • Monitor, manage, and troubleshoot perimeter security devices including firewalls, IDS/IPS, routers, and switches.
  • Implement firewall change requests.
  • Support existing firewall devices, such as Cisco ASA 5500 and Firepower 2100/4100, as well as Cisco IOS/IOS-XE/CatOS based routers and switches.

  • Monitor security system logs and status.

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and perform health checks on multiple perimeter security devices.
  • Perform recurring device maintenance activities such as applying system patches and device reboots.
  • Routinely update architecture diagrams using Visio.
  • Draft, coordinate, and publish Outage Notifications as required.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures and guides.
  • Create and maintain system documentation and architecture diagrams to support the RMF accreditation process.
