About The Position

The Network Engineer will be responsible for network services from network design through implementation, maintenance, and upgrading of existing networks. This role involves analyzing designs, specifications, and related documents, performing general LAN/CAN/WAN administration, and scheduling conversions and cutovers. The engineer will coordinate with users and sites to resolve network or system incidents, translate business requirements into telecommunications requirements (LAN, CAN, WAN, Voice, and Video), and perform engineering analysis of telecommunications alternatives for modernization efforts. Additionally, they will assist end users, operations personnel, and program management with network interfaces. Initially, the focus will be on building network diagrams, documenting devices, connectivity, and policies, and identifying issues or gaps. Subsequently, the role will support SDN architecture, provide VMWare NSX engineering support, assist with storage and backup engineering, and develop early hybrid-cloud architecture options.

Requirements

  • Strong network diagramming and documentation skills.
  • Understanding of network policy (e.g., ACLs, segmentation, routing).
  • Data-center experience with VMWare NSX.
  • Familiarity with storage/backup tools and concepts.
  • Basic hybrid cloud architecture experience.
  • Ten (10) years of professional experience providing Network Engineering support.
  • An IAT Level 2 Certification by the start date.
  • A Master’s degree in a related discipline OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and an additional two (2) years of experience providing Network Engineering support.

Responsibilities

  • Build network diagrams (ToR-down).
  • Document current state of devices, connectivity, and policies.
  • Identify issues or gaps in network configurations/policies.
  • Support SDN architecture work.
  • Provide VMWare NSX engineering support.
  • Assist with storage and backup engineering.
  • Develop early hybrid-cloud architecture options.
