This role involves supporting an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), Agency Internet Network (AIN), Intranet, and Internet, along with other data communications systems. The Network Engineer will install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software, ensuring network availability for all users. This position also provides support for network-related projects, translates business requirements into telecommunications specifications, and analyzes user requirements to develop network specifications. The role includes guiding users, conducting feasibility studies, analyzing network requirements and capacity, and leading design and development activities. Additionally, the Network Engineer will provide technical leadership for network integration, design, and technology, and incorporate new network plans into ongoing operations. Responsibilities extend to developing network architecture and documentation, guiding network development and implementation planning, and designing/performing integration of new technologies. Advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution for complex network issues are key, as is managing network transitions, migrations, and developing network addressing schemes. The role requires interaction with the Government on technical considerations and problem-solving, with ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables. Communication with program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives is also a part of this position.
