Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or Diploma (Required)
  • 3 - 4 years experience in a related field (Required)
  • Technical knowledge of network systems, protocols, and standards (Cisco, Palo Alto, Infoblox, F5, Wireless)
  • Network management and analysis tools (SolarWinds)
  • Working in and configuring switched and routed environment
  • Hardware, software, and network connection troubleshooting
  • CISCO experience strongly preferred. Wired, wireless, layer 2 and 3 switch/routing. 5K, 6K, 9K series CISCO switching

Responsibilities

  • Assists in design, build, and implement network systems across the enterprise.
  • Plans, develops, installs, configures, maintains, supports, and optimizes all local and wide area network connections, associated software, and communication links.
  • Troubleshoots network performance issues, analyzes network traffic, and provides capacity planning solutions.
  • Provides second and third level support to our customer base.
  • Interfaces with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.
  • Provides guidance to other I.S. Network Service members.
  • Provides network technical support to I.S. staff and users.
  • Assists in the planning and implementing of any improvement, modification, or replacement of network infrastructure components.
  • Conducts research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
  • Monitors and analyzes network performance across the organization’s LANs, WANs, and wireless deployments using sophisticated network management tools.
  • Ensures the stable operation and efficient performance of company networks.
  • Monitors system capacity to determine its effect on performance and recommends enhancements to meet new or changing network demands.
  • Plans and manages budgeting for network hardware and software procurement.
  • Assists in resource planning, project scheduling, and project plan development.
  • Interacts and negotiates with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and initiative in seeking and/or accepting additional assignments.
