Network Engineer
About The Position
The Indiana Office of Technology (IOT) provides cost-effective, secure, consistent, reliable enterprise-technology services to its partner agencies to help them better serve Hoosier taxpayers. IOT acts as the technology and solution enabler for the State, assisting partner agencies in achieving business objectives and innovation. The Network Engineer Intermediate works on the Network Management team, responsible for managing the network for all executive branch and some non-executive branch agencies. This role involves the design, configuration, installation, troubleshooting, problem resolution, repair, maintenance, and upgrade of network data communication equipment. The position also supports employees and State contractors and covers network support for the southeast portion of Indiana. Residency in the service area is desired, and travel is reimbursed.
Requirements
- Advanced knowledge of routing, switching, remote access and wireless protocols.
- Experience working with Cisco routing, switching wireless and/or remote access systems.
- Advanced knowledge of all guidelines, policies and procedures related to multi-protocol services.
- Advanced knowledge of multi-protocol network environment.
- Requires use of current best practice and security guidelines for network equipment deployment, management and removal.
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Provide effective collaboration with colleagues who share network management responsibilities, and support other teams and contractors involved in Indiana State Government Technology.
- At least 2 years of experience in computer technology, networking, or related field applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.

Responsibilities
- Provide day two support for networking repairs, replacements and refreshes.
- Repair supportive equipment such as UPS and PDU.
- Standardize (both hardware and software), optimize and stabilize the network and network environment, including closet environment, power and cable management statewide.
- Perform security management of network resources via authentication, authorization, accounting, and detection.
- Provide ticket system updates, creation and closure and Tech Support case creation as needed.
- Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time.
