About The Position

Abacus Technology is seeking a Network Engineer to provide technical support for strategic network and information services at Hanscom AFB. This is a full-time position. Responsibilities include designing, managing, implementing, and troubleshooting network solutions as per AF enterprise standards in support of 66 ABG/SC and their customers. The role involves providing engineering support for classified, unclassified networks, and other enclave networks, and assisting in securing network systems to meet applicable DoD, AF, and DISA compliance. The engineer will participate in system maintenance, optimization, and performance activities of the enterprise infrastructure, and interface with vendors for warranty claims, hardware/software upgrades, and other technology updates. Responsibilities also include diagnosing data troubles, opening and routing trouble tickets, and handling customer support cases with third-party subject matter experts through tier 3 contracted support constructs, ensuring proper and timely resolutions. The role requires researching technical issues and developing solutions with strong attention to detail.

Requirements

8+ years experience in network engineering and telecommunications support.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an IT-related field. Additional work experience may be substituted for degree requirements.
Must be Security+ CE certified.
Experience providing day to day administration and management of a highly available network infrastructure supporting over 5500+ users.
Hands-on experience in design/configuration/installation/troubleshooting of Cisco/Juniper product line of routers/switches.
Experience with OSPF, VRF, VRRP, QOS, VLAN, STP, Dot1x, IP access control lists, IPsec, Virtual Chassis/Stacking.
Strong working knowledge and excellent troubleshooting skills of Layer 3 and Layer 2 protocols in a VoIP environment.
Working knowledge of DHCP, NMS - Orion NPM/NCM, Cisco ISE, and Wireshark.
Strong network debugging and network troubleshooting skills.
Experience with upgrading software on network infrastructure hardware, AAA servers for device/user authentication, SNMPv3, Syslog and Network Monitor tools.
Understanding of cabling (Fiber/CAT5E/CAT6 etc.).
Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Must have excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Critical thinking skills for problem identification and resolution.
Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Nice To Haves

CCNA/CCNP certification desired.
Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems a plus.
Knowledge of Taclanes and voice platforms a plus.

Responsibilities
