About The Position

Optiveum is recruiting and contracting a Network Engineer to join the network operations team of the central IT services provider of a large German banking group. The role covers operational transition, configuration and troubleshooting, changes and releases, lifecycle and vulnerability management, incident and problem handling, monitoring and service reporting, documentation, audits, continual improvement, automation, and mentoring and cross-training team members.

  • Manage the hardware lifecycle, including switch replacements and tracking end-of-life and end-of-support dates.
  • Coordinate firmware upgrades, maintenance windows, and lifecycle activities, and manage licences with Cisco Smart Licensing.
  • Provide hands-on support for Lancom infrastructure during its upcoming rollout.
  • Handle second- and third-level incidents and coordinate problem management, including root cause analysis, known errors, and workarounds.
  • Support the Lead Network Engineer during major incidents, including bridge calls, data collection, and emergency changes.
  • Tune event monitoring in CheckMK and report service availability, including uptime, MTBF, MTTR, and capacity.
  • Investigate log anomalies flagged in Splunk and maintain standard syslog configurations.
