About The Position

Lockheed Martin is seeking a talented level 2 Network Engineer with a Secret clearance to work from their Boulder, CO location. This role is crucial for maintaining the sensors that monitor the sky, providing warfighters with a critical advantage, and contributing to global safety. The position involves supporting the SBIRS and Next-Gen GEO OPIR ground stations, which are fundamental to the United States’ missile-warning architecture. The Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) Infrastructure Team is looking for a Network Engineer to design, build, and sustain the ground-station platform for these systems. The engineer will collaborate with software, security, and mission engineers to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable ground systems for continuous infrared surveillance and missile-warning capabilities for both current and future satellite constellations.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of professional experience
  • BS degree
  • A fast learner who has the ability to work in a team setting, in addition to the ability to receive taskings from the team and drive to completion independently.
  • Foundational Understanding of routing and switching protocols.
  • Foundational understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS.
  • Foundational understanding of firewall policies.
  • Foundational understanding of network administration.
  • Foundational understanding of Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switching platforms.
  • Foundational understanding of maintenance and troubleshooting tools including but not limited to Wireshark, Splunk, Infoblox NetMRI.
  • Familiar with DISA STIG checklist and hardening Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches.
  • Jira and Confluence experience.
  • Active Secret clearance is required prior to start and ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
  • Must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating within Red Hat based environments.
  • Experience with TACLANE configuration.
  • Experience with Cisco NextGen Firewalls.
  • Experience with ISE (TACACS+).
  • Experience ACI administration/maintenance.
  • Experience with F5 and Juniper (legacy equipment).

Responsibilities

  • Design and plan network communications systems.
  • Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
  • Conduct testing of network design.
  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
  • Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
  • Design, build, test and troubleshoot network systems.
  • Create Change management tickets and tracking.
