About The Position

The Network Engineer position provides support, maintain and installs systems, equipment, software and processes necessary for LAN/WAN connectivity and communication. Provide advanced network infrastructure design including high availability, load balancing, firewalls, routing, and switching. Resolves Tier I and Tier II level issues and problems associated with the LAN/WAN infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 2-4 years designing, implementing, installing & troubleshooting Cisco routers, switches, firewalls & load balancers including: designing, implementing & troubleshooting network routing protocols
  • Working knowledge of local and wide area networks
  • Experience with Cisco infrastructure configuration & management
  • Experience with Cato infrastructure configuration & management
  • Experience with Data circuit/WAN support including QOS configurations
  • Experience with Ethernet topologies & data communications
  • Experience with VOIP & Video Conferencing components
  • Experience with configuring and managing VPN

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years designing, implementing & troubleshooting network routing protocols
  • Experience with OSPF, EIGRP, RIP, BGP
  • Established knowledge of local and wide area networks
  • Working knowledge of Cisco wireless components
  • Experience with Cisco infrastructure configuration & management
  • Experience with data circuit/WAN support, including QOS configurations
  • Experience with Citrix load balancers
  • Knowledge of horse racing
  • Current, valid and verifiable Cisco CCNA certification required, CCNP and CCDA

Responsibilities

  • Implements new load balancing, firewalls, routing, and switching equipment to support end users at offices and branch locations using the appropriate tools, manuals and vendor support.
  • Manages load balancing, firewalls, routing, switches, and VPN to maintain desired capacity for existing and new applications.
  • Recommends bandwidth changes for network improvements along with maintaining proper IOS levels for stability, desired features, and security.
  • Supports the installation and repair of WAN data circuits to remote offices.
  • Reviews utilization and availability reports using in house tools and third party vendor solutions to identify problems and take corrective action.
  • Responds to Help Desk ticket assignments and Network Engineer escalations in support of failed network systems and services.
  • Troubleshoots end user connectivity or communication problems to determine root cause.
  • Communicates with service providers for repair and corrective action.
  • Reviews network diagnostic logs and assist making corrections of noted problems.
  • Coordinates the installation of network cabling using established standards for the purpose of connecting equipment to the network.
  • Organizes, manages, maintains and tracks communications hardware and software inventory records using internal inventory management system.
  • Maintains current network diagrams and documentation as required to aide in ongoing support of complex inter-connected systems and equipment.
  • Documents new design standards and improvements on existing processes.
  • Maintains currency with new vendor network hardware, operating system software, wiring, and applications solutions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
