About The Position

SAIC is seeking a TACNET CB-ISEA Network Engineer (Fleet Support) to join our team in San Diego, CA. This Hybrid/Remote position requires frequent and regular onsite support aboard U.S. Navy ships. The engineer will work directly with Active Duty personnel and government staff to deliver high-quality repair and technical support for Navy afloat networks. Travel within the U.S. and internationally may be required (approx. 25%), along with occasional after-hours support. Must be able to travel up to 25% throughout the year.

Requirements

  • Bachelors and two (2) years or more experience; Masters and 0 years related experience; years of experience in lieu of degree to be taken into consideration.
  • 1+ years of experience supporting military network environments relevant to the listed responsibilities.
  • Administration experience with Cisco switches/routers, Windows Server, or Linux.
  • Working knowledge of core networking concepts and protocols.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have an Active Secret Clearance
  • Current DoD IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+).
  • Ability to obtain an approved Operating System certification (e.g., CCNA, Microsoft Server Administrator Associate, Linux+, VCP, or equivalent cloud certifications) within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of systems such as ADNS, ISNS, CANES, FSW, CENTRIXS, Legacy SCI, VIXS, and WRBS is a plus.
  • Experience administering enterprise-scale networks.
  • Proficiency with enterprise wireless technologies (802.11 standards, controller-based systems, RF design, tuning, and modern security such as WPA3/802.1X).
  • Hands-on experience with next-generation firewalls, segmentation approaches, and zero-trust architectures across large networks.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, including performing root-cause analysis and developing corrective actions that minimize operational impact.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely patching and remediation of cybersecurity vulnerabilities to ensure the integrity and resilience of Navy afloat network systems.
  • Provide break/fix IT support in a fast-paced shipboard environment and troubleshoot LAN issues to determine effective resolutions.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and recommend permanent configuration or system changes when needed.
  • Deliver server and network break/fix support, including remote troubleshooting of servers, networks, desktops, and peripheral devices.
  • Participate in technical meetings, prepare progress updates, and deliver briefs and presentations as needed.
