About The Position

Pearce Services is seeking a skilled OSP Network Engineer responsible for BAU Engineering work, including entrance cables, Ethernet, small road move projects, aerial work, and permitting with state and local municipalities. The position requires a working level of OSP Design for fiber and copper networks. The successful candidate is responsible for designing an OSP (Outside Plant) telecommunications network, including Copper and Fiber, aerial, buried, and underground network construction.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience in copper and fiber-optic/telecommunications/telecom engineering and broadband design (Ethernet).
  • Design building/entrance cable, etc.
  • Knowledge of outside plant activities (Copper and Fiber Cable Design; Aerial/Pole Line, Buried and Underground Design/Construction)
  • Proven ability to read and understand DOT schematics, identify conflicts with existing outside plant facilities, and select routing of lines and equipment required for projects.
  • Knowledge of permitting with state and local municipalities.
  • Familiar with GIS (Geographic Information Systems), ESRI, and shapefile functionality
  • Ability to resolve problems following standard practices, using judgment within defined policies and guidelines
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of General City, County, State, and road move design application processes is preferred.
  • Experience with Lumen Systems knowledge: NDS, WFMT, Fireworks, Bidmaster, SiteTracker, TIRKS, ODIN
  • OSP Telecom Construction experience

Responsibilities

  • Field/Design OSP BAU Work Orders to include entrance cables, Ethernet, small road move projects, aerial work, and permitting.
  • Work with State/Local/Federal DOT and the various Utilities to plan the necessary Telecom Relocation Plan. Working with DOT schematics, visit the “field,” document the current telecom facilities, and design the “solution” plan in concert with the DOT Plans.
  • Work with Lumen Communications’ Planning, Right of Way, Construction, and Central Office Teams to coordinate project design/implementation.
  • Capable of managing their workload and prioritizing multiple field engineering assignments
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications
