About The Position

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Network Engineer 3 to join their team. This role involves performing network services from design through implementation, maintenance, and upgrading of existing networks. The engineer will analyze designs, specifications, and related documents, perform general LAN/CAN/WAN administration, and coordinate conversions and cutovers. They will also translate business requirements into telecommunications needs (LAN, CAN, WAN, Voice, Video), perform engineering analysis of telecommunications alternatives, and assist users and operations personnel with network interfaces. The position requires optimizing end-to-end system performance, conducting data captures for network performance information, minimizing network latency, and maximizing data throughput. The engineer will provide input to the organization's network and mission architecture, design, integrate, configure, deploy, test, and maintain various network devices and methodologies. This includes configuring and optimizing networks for front-end and back-end components, gathering data for system/component performance requirements, and implementing specific network solutions such as load-balancing, VPNs, firewalls, Traffic Shaping, Voice over IP (VoIP), GRE Tunneling, IP Security (IPSec), IP Encryption, Media over IP (MolP), and network address translation (NAT). The role also involves configuring and maintaining network diagrams and accreditations, overseeing support for all network equipment, developing network and mission architecture designs to meet new partner requirements, managing assigned tasks, and guiding junior Network Engineers. Integration of hardware and software to meet ISO 9000 requirements and other DoD/IC regulations is also a responsibility. The engineer will resolve complex network problems, operate network analyzers, WAN test equipment, and network simulators, design modules for traditional circuit-switched networks, and lead large efforts and installation projects. Development of algorithms for models using networking and/or telecommunications technologies and systems is also part of the role.
