About The Position

Innova Solutions is seeking a Network Engineer for a potential contract-to-hire role lasting 12+ months. The position is located in Charlotte, NC, and will be hybrid, requiring 3 days onsite and 2 days remote per week. This role focuses on designing, maintaining, improving, and expanding the physical infrastructure of a data center, rather than the IT hardware or software within it. The ideal candidate will have experience in Data Center Engineering, Critical Facilities Engineering, Mission Critical Infrastructure, Colocation or Hyperscale Data Centers, or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering supporting data center environments. Key areas of expertise include critical electrical infrastructure (utility service, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution), cooling and mechanical systems, capacity planning, infrastructure resiliency, data center construction and commissioning, root cause analysis, DCIM, monitoring, and engineering metrics, as well as working with various stakeholders.

Requirements

Strong working knowledge of data center critical infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical, and/or structured cabling systems.
Engineering or technical discipline background.
Experience supporting budgets and cost controls for data center projects and infrastructure operations.
Exposure to capital projects and vendor cost management.
Demonstrated experience partnering with Real Estate, Critical Systems, Construction, and Technology teams to deliver infrastructure projects and operational outcomes.
Data networking storage & data center technologies.
Product Management.
Infrastructure Build Develop.

Nice To Haves

Typically 7-8 years of experience in Data Center, Critical Systems, or related infrastructure engineering disciplines.
Demonstrated experience supporting data center engineering, construction, upgrades, or integration activities within a large or multisite environment.
Working knowledge of risk assessment and availability concepts for data centers or colocation environments.
Ability to contribute to availability modeling and resiliency planning.
Solid understanding of data center technologies and associated monitoring, environmental, and infrastructure management tools (e.g., power, cooling, telemetry, DCIM).

Responsibilities

Design, maintain, improve, and expand the physical infrastructure of a data center.
Manage critical electrical infrastructure, including utility service, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, and power distribution.
Oversee cooling and mechanical systems supporting data centers.
Perform capacity planning for power, space, and cooling.
Conduct infrastructure resiliency, redundancy, and failover analysis.
Engage in data center construction, upgrades, and commissioning activities.
Perform root cause analysis of infrastructure failures.
Utilize DCIM, monitoring, and engineering metrics.
Work with construction teams, utilities, vendors, and facility stakeholders.
