GDIT is seeking a Network Engineer to join their team to support ETM activities at the Pentagon. This role involves reviewing and evaluating information technology (IT) infrastructure and systems to ensure adherence to company and customer quality standards. The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, planning, and building communications networks, configuring routers, switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems, and coordinating improvements and enhancements to LAN/WAN hardware and software. The position requires monitoring the network using industry-leading technologies, providing innovative technical solutions, and analyzing customer requirements to solve complex problems. Maintenance and upgrades of networks, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and remote access systems, are key responsibilities. The role also involves maintaining network integrity and connectivity, ensuring policy compliance, and managing system backup and recovery capabilities. Additionally, the Network Engineer will coordinate the acquisition of hardware, software, and subcontractor services, create plans and configure systems for data communication networks, and evaluate new communication technologies to enhance network capabilities. Maintaining current knowledge of relevant technology and designing/building hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks are also part of the role. This position will provide guidance and leadership to less-experienced network personnel.
