About The Position

THE HIGH LEVEL Iron Bow Technologies is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support an existing, long-time Federal Government customer. You will be part of a team providing support for our customers’ systems, including monitoring, updating and troubleshooting with our goal of ensuring customer's networking infrastructure is secure and aligns with customer requirements and maintaining five-9 system availability. As the Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, security, and maintenance of enterprise network infrastructure supporting mission-critical operations. This role requires a strong technical foundation, experience operating in secure environments, and the ability to support high-availability systems. This position requires onsite work at the client’s site in Washington, DC. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING Our Network Engineer will be part of a dynamic team of engineers who collectively ensure the IT infrastructure is available 24x7x365.

Requirements

  • A strong documented experience of network engineering with a minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience working within prem and cloud IaaS services
  • Strong collaboration working between applications and infrastructure teams, providing primary and backup support as needed on various projects as well as proactively keeping information communicated to team members and program leadership.
  • You hold a deep understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and subnetting
  • You have designed networks with security-first architecture
  • You have hands-on experience with enterprise networking hardware (Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, etc.)
  • You have a strong knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and network security best practices
  • You have experience and knowledge of cloud networking (Azure, AWS, M365 environments) to help advance the program technical maturity
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting complex Layer 1–7 issues
  • Certification requirements: M365E/X or VCP or CCNP or LPIC or Linux+
  • You are a US citizen with an active TS clearance – an active TS/SCI clearance is preferred
  • You hold a B.S. in Information Technology or a closely related field

Responsibilities

  • Teamwide communication and collaboration – remaining proactive and keeping program leadership and team members informed and aware of current efforts and timeframe commitments
  • Design, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls, routing, switching)
  • Support secure and classified network environments
  • Troubleshoot complex network performance and connectivity issues
  • Implement security best practices aligned with federal standards
  • Support virtualization and cloud integration efforts (M365, hybrid cloud environments)
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with security controls
  • Provide Tier III escalation support and participate in on-call rotations as required
